2018 Dealer Launch - Team thoughts

The trip to Specialized UK – Chessington - 20.09.17.

Some of the team from the Specialized Concept Store in Chelmsford attended the UK launch of the new 2018 Specialized bikes, helmets, shoes and clothing. Bright colours are certainly the trend for next year and wow did they look amazing on bikes and accessories.

Highlights of the evening for the team (especially the road riders) included the Tarmac range of bikes, with the Tarmac Pro SL6 making a significant entry. Vibrant colours adorn the frame and with Shimano’s new Ultegra 8150 Di2 groupset with direct mount brakes and Roval CL50 wheels with 26mm S-Works turbo tyres, make this one of the best looking bikes around.

The 2018 Enduro proved to be a huge hit with the MTB guys, showing the new Command Post WU, where the saddle angles progressively back as the post is dropped, but when extended provides a very comfortable riding position as the seat tilts forward. Certain models are also equipped with a SWAT CC tool fitted into the steerer tube.

Although the name stays the same, the Sirrus for 2018 is still an ideal fitness and commuting bike, but it now provides a range of models for both men and women (replacing the Vita for women). The models culminate in the Sirrus Pro – a very light bike that features Specialized’s Future Shock system and the partnership with Maclaren Applied Technologies, has dramatically enhanced the overall performance by creating a much smoother, faster and more comfortable ride.

The Turbo Levo range for this year has increased with the addition of the Turbo Kenevo and Turbo Como models. Whilst the Kenevo has had an extra 15% power added to the motor, allowing descents and trails to still be exhilerating, but the climb back up much easier, the Como – a fully integrated e bike, provides style, comfort and the ability to get you where you want to go quickly, whilst still enjoying the ride.

And the Retul 3D Motion Capture System – the latest technology to be used in the Specialized Body Geometry Fit Studio, which the Concept Store in Chelmsford will be utilising in the near future, is certainly a new concept to behold in bike fitting technology. Its aim is to increase individual cyclists’ performance and increase their comfort when riding in every aspect of each ride, with personalised data and recommendations provided quickly and personalised to each riders’ needs in different riding conditions.

A search online is needed, but a visit to the store in Chelmsford is a MUST, if the true colours, effects and additions to the new models are to be really appreciated.
