Four reasons you need a 2017 S-Works Enduro in your life

The Enduro is a fearless, peerless backcountry bike – ideal for racing or simply exploring the local wilderness. Not only is it extremely able, but it also offers fantastic pedalling efficiency, because when you ride ‘all-mountain’, you have to take on the whole of the mountain – and that means putting in the power to go uphill as as well as down.

We decided in 2017 that it was time to tinker – in pursuit of some improvements to what is already a fantastically popular bike. After all, we don’t believe in resting on our laurels. Here are four reasons you’re going to absolutely need a new Enduro in your life – ASAP.

So many activities!

Our super-light, super-versatile mountain bike is now offered in frame sizes to run 650b and 29er wheels – that means an even greater variety of applications and activities than ever before.

The obvious advantage of the 29er is that you can steam through smaller obstructions and over obstacles with a greater momentum. You’ll also find yourself travelling a lot quicker on the flat. Sure, they’re more of a handful when things get technical – but if you’re an experienced MTBer, or ready to take things up a notch – then this should be ideal.

By comparison the 650b option is more nimble – compromising only the very top end speed of the 29er. Whatever your riding style, there’s an Enduro to suit.

Geometry teacher

The new Enduro benefits from an even faster, more race-ready geometry that can handle anything from downhill tracks to leg-burning, lung-busting ascents. We did this by making the front end slacker and extending the top tube. We also gave it shorter chain stays and a lower bottom bracket to make it feel as though it’s stuck firmly to the ground – putting you completely in control.

Join the SWAT team

Everybody loved the SWAT box when we introduced it to the Stumpjumper last year – so we thought we’d bring it to the Enduro too. For those not in the know, the SWAT box is a special compartment on the down tube of the bike that opens up so you can store any small essentials in there.

Aside from the peace of mind that comes with not worrying about your phone flying out of a jersey pocket as you truck over bumps and obstacles, the SWAT box also means you don’t have to worry about transferring your spare tubes from one jersey or pair of shorts to the next. It’s all on the bike already.

Going travelling

The super-plush travel is provided by none other than the Öhlins RXF 36 fork. This thing was created to be the world’s best front-end suspension system and it doesn’t disappoint on that score. It has a three-chamber air spring design and makes use of exclusive damping technology.

The 29er runs 160mm of travel at the front and 165mm at the back, while the 650b has 170mm – which should be enough to make every descent an exhilarating thrill ride.
