Head to Toe in Specialized

At Specialized we’ve got years of experience designing equipment that works whatever Mother Nature throws in your way – we’ve got you covered from your head right down to your toes.

Keep yourself insulated

Heat rises, right? That means that a good chunk of your body heat rises to escape through your head and keeping a lid on it will mean you stay warm even when it’s seriously cold. Whether you ride off road or on, a layer beneath your helmet keeps all that hard-earned heat where you need it and is also breathable to stop you cooking. Combine it with a neck fleece and a breathable Merino base layer to ensure your core is warm and you’ll be able to keep going as long as you like.

Waterproof and breathable outer layers are next, whether that’s the sturdy Deflect Mountain Jacket for mountain bikers or the sleek Element jacket for roadies.

Your hands have nowhere to hide, being wrapped around the bars out front, taking the full force of the wind and rain. For the next few weeks, the Element gloves will keep you going, guaranteed to stave off the cold without compromising on dexterity or bar feel.

Even in warmer weather, there’s one part of your body you want to keep working well – hand control is a must when riding. Numb hands result from excess pressure on the ulnar nerve in your palm, so we’ve designed the new 2019 Body Geometry gloves to feature strategically placed gel pads which alleviate hand fatigue. Our Ridge gloves, for trail riders, come equipped with XRD foam knuckle protection and a pre-curved articulated fit, also featuring a conductive silicone print on the thumb and pointer fingers for touchscreen compatibility.

We’ll have the new Spring/Summer 2019 range of warmer weather gloves in store from 20 February.

Happy Feet

Keeping your feet warm and dry can be a challenge during bad weather. Shoe covers are a simple solution and can easily be thrown over your normal shoes to keep them clean and your feet toasty. For the real grim days when you just have to ride those trails, the Defroster shoe is the one to reach for – tough enough for the very worst of days.

Winter won’t last forever

Trust us, we’ve been in this game long enough to know that eventually, the weather will take a turn for the better. In spring and early summer, the mornings are often still a little chilly, but it can warm up quite nicely through the day. As the mercury climbs towards double figures, consider swapping the bib tights and jacket for arm and leg warmers and a gilet. Being too hot is almost as uncomfortable as being too cold and lightweight kit that can be easily removed and stowed in your jersey pocket will have you covered no matter what.

After each winter it can take a while before our favourite mountain bike trails have fully dried out. Before you reach for your summer kit it pays to keep your bum dry – a pair of shorts with a water-repellent treatment means you can concentrate on what’s in front of you rather than on your behind.

Whether it’s freezing cold or toasty hot, having the right kit for the job is essential. At Specialized we’ve got you covered from top to bottom.
