Specialized Adaptalite Technology

As pioneers of Adaptalite photochromic lens technology—lenses that automatically darken or lighten in response to UV conditions—Specialized offers an ever-growing line of light sensing optics with a wide tint range, quick color shift, 100% UVA and UVB protection and unsurpassed optical clarity. Both our mountain and road lens variations have been optimized for their unique environments. Each covers a different light range: the amber-tinted mountain lens starts lighter to accommodate low light conditions, while the copper-tinted road lens (below) achieves a darker tint to handle brighter conditions found on the open road.

Specialized Non Shifting - Fixed tint lenses

Many of our models are also offered in fixed-tint versions. The lenses in these models match the darkened state of their Adaptalite cousins and still provide the unique performance and protection benefits found throughout the entire line. These models still retain customized lens formulations (12% light transmission for road; 22% for mountain) and filters, impact protection, light weight and optical clarity.
