The Specialized 1.2 motor has been completely redeveloped for this latest iteration of the Vado, with a focus on turning it into the ideal urban bike, fit for commuting and grocery runs, day-in, day-out. Our Rx Street Tune takes the super-efficient output that comes from the motor and optimises it for use in the city. The output of the motor is set to match and respond to the power you put through the pedals, so the harder you push, the more the bike will help you along. You'll quickly discover that starting from a standstill is both easy and fast. The motor is belt-driven, for a fluid, smooth and noise-free experience.

The Vado 2.0 is fitted with a custom U1-460 battery exclusive to Specialized, which integrates seamlessly with the rest of the bike. It's easy to remove when you need to charge it, but also features a lock to prevent theft or tampering. The impressive lifespan of the battery translates to a range of 93 miles when you use the bike in Economy mode, 40 miles when you have Sport mode switched on, and a still-pretty-far 25 miles in Turbo. There's a little bit of room for variation in these estimates, of course, with weight of the rider and any cargo carried, as well as wind and terrain all having a bearing. What you can be certain of is that a full charge should take you anywhere in the city you want to go, and back again, with ease.

German tech giant, BLOKS, helped us develop a custom computer for the Vado 2.0 too. This neat touchscreen gizmo lets you connect via Bluetooth to our Turbo Vado Mission Control app, giving you full control over all the settings and preferences, as well as a neat Smart Control function to manage battery life. Mid-ride, a handlebar-mounted remote allows you to scroll through the same data screens, without lifting your hands off the bars for a second.

The spec for the Vado 2.0 is wallet-friendly, with 9-speed Shimano drivetrain plus reassuring hydraulic disc brakes. The Vado 2.0, is the missing piece in the puzzle of modern life.
