Enduro is just like trail riding... Right? Well sort of, except with a bit more structure, clock watching and urgency, and maybe a little less chatting.

New Year: Gym Membership or New Bike?

LATEST NEWSNew Year: Gym Membership or New Bike?

Thursday, 15 January 2015 | Details

Every year we make new years’ resolutions, to be ‘better’ people, whether it be working harder, learning a language or getting more exercise. But after we’ve probably overspent on Christmas, we have limited funds on which to indulge our newly motivated healthy selves. Two common ideas include a new bike or a gym membership. How can we decide one which one to go for? I’ll discuss both, but I’m pretty sure I know which one I’d go for.

We’re excited about 2015, there’s a lot to talk about. It’s mostly wheel sizes and brake standards, which is fine because at the end of the day: it’s all about making riding easier and more fun, which excuses the geek talk! Here’s four things we’re looking forward to more of in 2015.

The Advantages of Road Disc Brakes

LATEST NEWSThe Advantages of Road Disc Brakes

Thursday, 8 January 2015 | Details

Those of us who ride mountain bikes have enjoyed disc brakes as standard for years, and I mean years. We’ve enjoyed fitting brakes and forgetting about them for months at a time, we’ve enjoyed not having to make micro adjustments to our brakes, as things wear on an almost weekly basis, we’ve enjoyed putting up with a slightly untrue wheel, without wheel rub, and most of all we’ve enjoyed stopping in the rain with confidence.

What does 'Evo' mean?

PRODUCTSWhat does 'Evo' mean?

Specialized have added the ‘Evo’ moniker to many of their bikes, it does sound progressive and aggressive, but what does it actually mean? We all like to tune our bikes a bit, and push them to the limit of their (and our) ability.

Introducing the New 2015 Diverge

PRODUCTSIntroducing the New 2015 Diverge

Monday, 24 November 2014 | Details

‘To follow a different direction, or to become different’ is the Cambridge Dictionary’s description of ‘diverge’. I think it suits this bike well. Road bikes are great for efficiency and speed, but for anything other than smooth and dry tarmac, they can be a little skittish, many are happy with this, and keep the twitchiness in mind when conditions are less than optimal. For everyone else; there’s the Specialized Diverge.

It's nice to hear the kind words of a happy customer (a nice email sent to our Specialized Concept Store Chester) - "I recently came into your store looking for a new pair of road shoes, ready for another year of high mileage. At the time I had my two young children with me and they waited patiently whilst I tried on several pairs of shoes, but despite plenty of help (and lollipops) from Izzy I couldn't find a good fitting pair in black that suited my budget, so had to leave empty handed. A week later, having been to several other bike shops and still not found any suitable shoes, I came back to your store with my children. Once again Izzy was really helpful. She immediately recognised us and asked if I'd sorted my shoes before finding me a great fitting pair of Specialized Road Pro's, in black, Perfect! I wanted to drop you a line to bring this to your attention and ask if you would pass on my thanks to Izzy. She was absolutely brilliant and couldn't have been more helpful or courteous to my children and I. I'm not the sort of person who ever contacts a company about service (good or bad), but feel that on this occasion I wanted to highlight just how great Izzy was. She couldn't have been better and there's no doubt that I'll be an ongoing customer."
