The Specialized Enduro has been a favourite for MTBers for some years, but has remained largely unchanged since 2013. That’s largely because we don’t believe in changing things just for the sake of it – especially not when you’ve got such a natural-born hill killer on your hands.
Nevertheless, as the years have rolled by and we’ve developed new features on other machines in the MTB range, we thought perhaps it was time to start showing the Enduro a bit more love and see if we couldn’t improve on awesome.
The Enduro is built to be an all-mountain bike, to tackle the small stuff, the big stuff and the really ragged, rugged stuff – all with consummate ease. To really amp up that versatility – for 2017 we’re offering the Enduro in two frame sizes, the 650B (27.5) or the larger 29er. That means you can make a call on the size based on both the type of riding you most commonly do and your own personal style.
In terms of taking the Enduro on, we decided to make the geometry slacker while ratcheting up the amount of travel. So now the 650B version has a 65.5° head angle, while the 29er is set to 66°.
Another change that some keen Specialized fans will really love is the addition of the SWAT box to the downtube of the Enduro. This smart, compact storage space (which has already been featuring on the Specialized Stumpjumper for a year or so) allows you to stow those mid-ride essentials like spare tubes and tools without having them jangling around in your pockets. Pretty much since its inception the SWAT has been popular with Stumpy riders, so we thought ‘What the heck? Let’s add it to the Enduro too!’.
It’s fair to say that Dirt Magazine has a lot of love for the Enduro – referencing one of its early incarnations in 2004, before going to say “the breed has always been a lawless one, weathering terrain previously the reserve of downhill.And the tradition continues, for this new Enduro is a bear of a bike.â€

The 2017 Enduro comes in a handful of different specification options, all available on our site. The lowest price is the Enduro Comp 29er (which can also run as a 6Fattie), coming in at £2,600. For that you get an X-Wing alloy frame, RockShox Yari RC form and 11-speed SRAM drivetrain.
At the top end of the family is the full carbon S-Works 650B, which offers up a smorgasbord of top-end componentry and a truly incredible ride experience. For the £6,600 price tag you get a FACT IS-X 11m frame – the perfect blend of lightweight, strength and efficient power transfer – plus SRAM’s intuitive, almost-legendary XX1 Eagle drivetrain. A thoroughbred beast and no mistake.
