Taking a look at Specialized entry level road bikes

For some, the flash of carbon and expensive groupsets isn’t what riding is about. So, whether you’re returning to road cycling after a period away, or you want to know what it’s all about, we have affordable bikes with premium quality. The Allez range is designed to be that launchpad into road cycling, so let’s take a closer look at what you can get for your money.

Allez

The original Allez is an affordable option for those looking at getting into road cycling. Costing £799, you’ll find a lightweight aluminium frame and carbon fork with refined components and reliability. It redefines what you can expect from an ‘entry level’ road bike.

An 8-speed Shimano Claris groupset offers plenty of gearing, with a 50/24T chainset and 11-32T cassette making this a dream for riding up hills. Integrated rack and fender mounts mean you'll be able to ride to work or the shops, making this an incredibly versatile bike. It's available in three striking colourways to suit.

Allez Sport

One rung up in the hierarchy of Allez bikes is the Allez Sport. Priced at £999 it's the perfect commuting partner or to use on those weekend rides. It's available in a wide range of sizes to suit most heights and bike size preferences. Its geometry was designed by using the Specialized Retül fit database which helped us create a comfortable frame with performance-inspired handling.

Perfect for commuting or travelling to the shops, the Allez Sport features built in rack and fender mounts – believe us, the fender mounts will come in handy if you plan on riding through the winter. Of course, if you just want to use it as a road bike, it's lightweight and handles like a dream.

The Shimano Sora 9-speed groupset with Axis rim brakes provides reliable shifting again and again. We've also included our popular body geometry bridge saddle. Although saddles are personal choice, this particular model is popular with a number of our riders. It's available in two stunning colourways, sure to catch the attention of others as you fly by.

Allez Elite

The Allez Elite is our top-end entry-level road bike from the Allez range. It features the lightweight aluminium frame and carbon forks that we know and love from the other models, but with the bonus of a superb Shimano 105 11-speed groupset. The Allez Elite just tips over the £1,000 mark but for the money, you get an incredibly robust and versatile ride that will make you feel like you’re on a much more expensive bike.

We offer the Allez Elite in seven different sizes to suit a wide range of heights. The geometry was designed using our vast Retül fit database which allows us to create a frame that will fit a wide range of positions while maintaining comfort and handling control on the bike. Similarly, as with other Allez bikes, the Elite can be transformed into a commuting bike with the addition of fenders and racks using our included mounting points.

It’s available in two gorgeous colourways; a glossy green with silver lettering, and a satin black with blue reflective detailing for a stealth effect. The fitted Espoir sport tyres will keep you rolling comfortably and smoothly mile after mile. The Allez Elite packs a lot of punch into a low cost so you can discover the joys of road cycling without the expense.

Diverge Base E5

Of course, not everyone wants to stay fully on the road – think of the times you wanted to ride along the towpaths or take a bridleway short cut home but couldn’t. That’s where the Diverge comes in. The Diverge range goes from entry-level to premium pricing, but the Base E5 is a fantastic entryway into discovering the world of gravel and light off-road riding.

The Base E5 is a lightweight aluminium bike providing a stiff and responsive ride on and off-road. A Shimano Claris 8-speed groupset makes the bike low maintenance while giving you a wide gear ratio for when the gravel track rises. Tektro mechanical discs mean the Diverge stops quickly and reliably in all weather conditions. At just over £1,000 it's a perfect companion for discovering the fast world of gravel, or as a hardy all-weather commuter with its many mounting points for racks and luggage. It's available in two colourways so you can personalise your ride.

All cyclists need to start somewhere, and these are a great selection of road (and gravel) bikes to get started with, without breaking the bank.
