We have a variety of characters in our team here at Specialized. Our staff are road, mountain and triathlon enthusiasts. Anything with two wheels seems to be what they like.

Mark is a life long cyclist and is widely known in Newbury for his junior XC, road and Time Trial racing. He then took that passion and started a local bike shop. In 2017 Mark has decided to set himself some great challenges including the Mallorca 312km and La Marmotte. Both are prestigious sportives over some of the hilliest terrain possible. This won't limit him as he still loves to race his mountain and cyclo-cross bike over the short course races.

Matthew started cycling in 2007, in his last year at University, on a Rockhopper hard tail. He soon fell in love with the mountain bikes and headed to the trails at Afan and realised why some people wear body armour. Since then he has owned and loved full suspension bikes from Epic's to Enduro's. He is currently the proud owner of a Specialized Secteur as well as a Specialized Camber and Enduro. Matt is occasionally found cycling with the Buckled Wheelers. Matt is also a Level 1 Body Geometry Fitter.

Polly began her cycling quest in 2002 on a Scott Contessa. she then fell in love with a Wilier whilst cycling in the Newbury area. Eventually she is now on the Specialized Amira and challenging Strava athletes to get up hill the fastest. More recently Polly has found herself cycling overseas with her local cycling club Oakley Pedallers. She has been known to fly up the hills but is always willing to wait.

Kevin, our newest member of staff started cycling at the age of 3 and says he has probably only missed 10 years of cycling. So after 37 years of cycling history he is now training to tackle an Ironman in 2017. He started triathlon in 2011 and has completed all of the distances other than an Ironman. Kevin is always with a smile on his face, probably because he has only just got off his bike, or finished a swim or run. He has ridden a lot of bikes but recently tested the Roubaix and was amazed, he's now stuck it on the wish list. Kevin is a Retul Fitter, British Triathlon Coach and CTC ride leader.

Fernando is our newest member of the team! After deciding he would like a career change, he put himself through Cytec level 2 and now he works for us as a mechanic. He is a long time bike enthusiast and is extremely thorough so there is no need to worry when your bike is in his hands because it will only come back to you better than before!

Hamish has worked at the shop for 3 years, starting as a Saturday and Sunday member of staff and then moved on to full time this year. He loves trials riding and mountain biking!
