Get to know the Specialized Turbo Levo Gen 3

The all-new Turbo Levo Gen 3 is set to be our most powerful and versatile eMTB yet, with a frame redesign and a complete overhaul of the motor and battery systems. Let's get into the detail of what you can expect from the third iteration of our powerful eMTB.

Adjustable geometry

For the Turbo Levo Gen 3 models, we've completely redesigned the frame to make it more agile and nimble by reducing the fork offset to improve steering control and steepening the seat tube angle for more balanced climbing. We've also included the option of adjustable geometry. You can now fine-tune your headtube angle between 63º and 65.5º with a nifty little cup that’s included. Your bottom bracket height can also now be modified by 7mm through a flip-chip on the horst pivot, allowing you to take control of stability and defend against rock strikes.

New S-sizing

S-sizing is our new way of sizing bikes. Instead of traditional frame sizes or S, M, L for instance, we now use S2, S3, S4, etc. Although this isn't specific to the Levo range, (it's been introduced across a range of models including the Stumpjumper and the Kenevo), it allows you to choose a bike size based not only on your measurements but on your riding style. For instance, if you typically ride a size M, you might be an S3 on the new scale. If however, you want a more playful, agile ride, you might go for the S2, whereas if you prefer more stability, you might choose S4.

Mullet wheels

Mullet wheel setups aren't new in themselves, but we've designed the Gen 3 to be optimised around the mismatched wheel system. Why? Because having a 27.5" wheel on the back and a 29" up front makes the bike more agile and manoeuvrable. Having a mid-motor adds weight and lengthens the wheelbase somewhat, so adding a smaller wheel to the rear allows our engineers to shorten the chainstays to 447mm, making the bike much easier to whip around the trails.

Beefed up suspension

The Levo Gen 3 comes with 160mm of front suspension (150mm on size S1) and 150mm at the rear. Our beefed up RX Tuned suspension has been carefully engineered to perform more efficiently, with riders able to generate speed while maintaining stability without adding weight to the overall build. You can now experience mid-stroke support and small bump sensitivity while staying in control, so you can send it at the bike park, just like Martin Söderström.

New motor system

For the Gen 3 Levo, we have included our powerful Specialized 2.2 Motor System with 90Nm of torque, meaning you’ll get up to speed much quicker than your mates, so make sure you bring a snack for when you’re waiting at the top of the climbs. A new hatch and battery cover reduces water ingress, so the motor stays nice and dry in the typical British weather. Across our models, from the S-Works Turbo Levo and the Turbo Levo Pro, we’ve included a 700Wh battery which can provide up to 70km of distance or up to five hours of trail time on one charge.

We aren’t the only ones impressed by the updated system, “The motor is easy to modulate, remains unfazed by varied cadences and is forgiving of incorrect gear choices.” – E-Mountainbike.

New MasterMind TCU

Our new MasterMind Turbo Control Unit sits neatly in the top tube of the Levo Gen 3. We've used Gorilla Glass for its interface to protect it from the inevitable scratches or stone chips. New for this edition, the TCU allows you to completely control your power levels by using 10% increments as well as pre-made settings such as Eco. This means you can match your power to your friends if they're going a little slower or faster than you, meaning you can enjoy the trails more and worry less about slowing down for the group. The display also clearly shows how much battery you have left and what mode you're riding in. It's also optimised for Mission Control App pairing, which allows you to get the most out of your eBike by tuning your bike wirelessly, monitoring your heart rate, recording rides, and running system diagnostics – it's a pretty impressive bit of kit.
