Whether you’re someone looking to dip your toes into the world of mountain biking, or you’re an experienced rider and fancy something new, there’s bound to be a mountain bike in our Specialized range for you. Not everyone needs a full-suspension weapon for riding the local canal or woodland trail system, so we’ve put together a list of great bikes across the Rockhopper and Stumpjumper ranges for those just getting started or on a budget.
The Rockhopper 27.5 is one of our best value bikes. Prices start at £449 for this super-fast hardtail which comes in a choice of three colourways: gloss flo red/white, gloss tarmac black/white, and satin cast blue metallic/ice blue. Available with 27.5” wheels for agility and a mixed Shimano 8-speed groupset, the Rockhopper 27.5 is an ideal companion for those wanting to try out the trails for the first time on a reliable and fun hardtail.
A premium aluminium framed hardtail at a fraction of the cost, the Rockhopper Sport is a versatile yet affordable bike at £549. It comes in two iterations, the 27.5 or the 29, which denotes the wheel size on the bike. If you like to get up to speed and tackle lumpy trails, the 29” might suit you best. The 27.5” is ideal for those who want to whip the bike around like Martin Söderström.
Each version comes with robust SR Suntour XCM forks with between 80-100mm of travel – enough for you to tackle some rough stuff without carrying the extra weight of more hardy suspension. A mixed Shimano Altus drivetrain is equipped and Tektro hydraulic brakes make sure you’ll be able to stop on a dime no matter the weather. An excellent all-rounder.
One step further in the hierarchy sits the Rockhopper Comp 2X. Again, there are two models, 27.5- and 29-inch wheels. At £629 this premium aluminium A1 frame makes light work of berms and descents, inspiring confidence in its ability to stay under the rider's control when things get rough.
Our RX Tune treatment is applied to the SR SunTour XCM 80/90/100mm forks as they are set up individually to each size. A mixed Shimano groupset adorns the Rockhopper Comp with a wide 11-36T cassette which makes light work of any inclines. Hydraulic Shimano brakes with 180mm rotors make this a sensible choice if you’re planning on riding through all four seasons, or if you just fancy sending it at the local black route.
Sitting second in our Rockhopper family, the Elite is a lot of bike packed into the small price of £849. Whether you’re shredding down singletrack or spending hours at the bike park, the Elite is a capable and nimble bike that will keep you coming back for more.
Equipped with a Shimano Deore 1x10 drivetrain and an 11-42T cassette, you'll never run out of gears when you're climbing. We've taken the bold step of including RockShox Judy air-sprung forks so you can get the best out of the hardtail capabilities. Shimano MT200 hydraulic discs will stop you reliably and consistently. Available in both 27.5”- and 29”-wheel sizes, the Elite is exactly what it says, an elite bike, but at an enticing price.
Proving that pure enjoyment and speed doesn’t need to come at a premium, the Rockhopper Expert is the product of over 30 years of development in hardtail expertise. The spec list on this bike looks like it should belong on something that costs more than £1,099. With RockShox Judy forks, SRAM Eagle 1x12-speed groupset, and Shimano MT200 hydraulic brakes, this bike is extremely capable and ready to shred.
Available in both tubeless reedy 27.5”- and 29”-wheel sizes, the aluminium premium A1 frame keeps the weight down but strength up so you can be confident in the fact that you'll be knackered out before the bike will be. A satin silver dust/black holographic colourway enrobes the bike in a stunning design.
Not everyone enjoys the simplicity of a hardtail, which is why we have made the first bike we ever made at an accessible price point of £1,899 so that more people can experience the joys of a full-squish mountain bike for less than you think.
That’s not to say we skimped on the components. With a premium aluminium frame, the Stumpjumper Alloy catches the essence of a Stumpjumper with its progressive geometry, all-new suspension kinematics and SRAM SX 12-speed groupset. We've created a trail-ready shredder at a fraction of the premium costs.
So, whether you’re returning to mountain biking after some time off, or you need something to ride with your little shredders, there’s something in our Rockhopper and Stumpjumper range for every rider. Why not take a trip to your local Specialized concept store and see the range for yourself?
