We’re back off road for the next in our ‘what the pros ride' series, this time with Specialized athlete Sofia Wiedenroth. The 26-year-old German signed with the Specialized Enduro Team for this season and has been racing in MTB events alongside her teammates Kevin Miquel, Charles Murray and Francescu-Maria Camoin. An all-round MTB expert, Wiedenroth has been racing on two wheels for more than 18 years and in that time has won five German XCO titles. She has been honing her skills at the Enduro World Series for a few years now and following her fourth place at the 2020 UCI E-bike XC World Championships in Leogang, has made e-MTB racing part of her schedule. This has already paid off, as at the first round of the UCI e-MTB XC World Cup in Monaco, Wiedenroth climbed to the top step of the podium. Let’s look at the kit that gets the best out of the German’s ability.
Wiedenroth, like the entire Specialized Enduro Team, has been racing on our genre-defining S-Works Enduro. The first thing that is noticeable is the custom paint job on the team’s bikes that makes it pop against any background. A huge amount of R&D has gone into making this bike an efficient climber while also coping with the trickiest descents to ensure that it outperforms the competition. In short, the lightweight yet bomber carbon frame is perfectly suited to the sort of gnarly terrain on which Wiedenroth is most at home.
The specs are what makes Wiedenroth’s S-Works Enduro so powerful. The team is supported by SRAM, RockShox, Roval, Renthal, Cushcore, 100%, LOOK, Supacaz, Retül, and Motoes, who all help to kit out the rider’s bikes. Wiedenroth races with SRAM’s XX1 Eagle AXS drivetrain and Code RSC four-piston disc brakes, as well as the new ZEB Ultimate RC2 29 170mm forks from Ricksha that makes this S-Works Enduro the ultimate racing machine. To optimise handling, her rig is equipped with Roval Traverse Aluminium 30mm wheels and a Renthal cockpit finished with Supacaz grips. No wonder the team’s so quick.
Wiedenroth took victory at the first round of the UCI e-MTB XC World Cup in Monaco atop a Turbo Levo Expert. The versatility and reliability of the bike shone as her pursuers suffered various mechanical problems. Wiedenroth won confidently, in no small part inspired by her bike. The Levo Expert combines ride quality, efficient power, and an extensive range (as in battery life) to make it one of the best e-MTBs you could ever ride. A combination of the 2.0 motor, SRAM’s robust X01 Eagle 12-speed drivetrain, dialled-in FOX Performance Elite suspension, and a high-performing Roval Traverse wheelset all work together to amplify their rider's efforts. As proved by Wiedenroth’s result, the Levo truly sets the bar.
