We all know the benefits of a smooth ride; your bike feels fast and eager to eat up the miles. Regardless of whether you're on the cobbles of Northern France or that horrible unsealed section on the way to work, the Roubaix Comp will help ease your rough road woes.

The frame has been constructed from our FACT 10r carbon fibre, making for a featherweight machine that packs the punch of a backstreet brawler. Stiffness levels are also sky high and the Roubaix Comp is noticeably faster thanks in part to new and improved geometry than the SL4 iteration from yesteryear. We tasked our engineers with increasing speed while preserving the same fit of our popular SL4; it's fair to say they rose to the challenge. Thanks to our Rider-First Engineered construction, this great feel is maintained across the entire size range.

We know you'll be wondering about the all-important suspension, the feature which makes the Roubaix so special. We've named it Future Shock and it's essentially a piston in the head tube that offers 20mm of travel. We worked with specialists at McLaren Applied Technologies to develop the Future Shock and the resulting performance improvements are highly impressive. We'll spare you a physics lecture, but by exploring the effects of vertical compliance we were able to improve smoothness, speed and comfort all at once. Plenty of bikes have been put through their paces in our Rolling Efficient Model and the new Roubaix Comp bests anything on the market.

The build spec is fit for purpose with the awesome Ultegra 8000 11-speed mechanical shifting, 8020 hydraulic disc brakes and ultra-tough Roval SLX wheels twinned with our Turbo Pro 28mm tyres.

  • Featuring our Rider-First Engineeredâ„¢ design that ensures every frame size has the same legendary responsiveness and smooth ride quality that you'd expect from a Roubaix. The FACT 10r frameset holds its own with our high-end carbon offerings, with the ideal blend of light overall weight and targeted stiffness, while the all-new Future Shock "suspension" system at the cockpit delivers a revolutionary degree of comfort and control.
  • A Roubaix Disc fork is built from our FACT carbon fiber for supreme stiffness, strength, and reactivity, while a thru-axle design only stands to bolster all of the above.
  • Disc wheelset built on Roval SLX 24 rims features a 20-millimeter internal width and an alloy construction that makes these wheels solid performers when the road gets rough.

Initially I had a few issues, self inflicted. I thought there was a bad rattle from the forks so contacted the Bristol store where i ordered it from. They were superb, very attentive, very helpful, very thorough. I couldn’t have asked for more. Well done. The issue itself was of my own making, new bottle cages allowed my drinks bottle to resonate and vibrate. Once my old ones fitted the issue cleared up. I describe the above because even though I bought the bike on line the support was still there.

The bike itself is beautifully finished. Well put together and sleek. The gears are excellent, nice neat changes. The brakes fantastic and I would warn of the need for care after having rim brakes. The ride is most definitely comfortable, the impact reducing handle bars are great and the flex in the seat post just right but not affecting performance.

The tires seem fine in the dry but I have had a twitch from the back in damp conditions so will switch to my favourite GP4000 tires soon.

The only thing I’m not happy with is the seat, it’s hard. However I always have seat trouble and actually use a very ugly Brooks which I love. To hell with it, comfort reigns over style for me and with my bum on it no one can see.

Thanks to all at the Harrogate store, I was recommended to go by a cycling friend to try out the Roubaix and was very pleased with the attention to detail and the service the team at Harrogate gave me.

As for the machine itself..... am doing times for Strava segments never seen before, The comfort is better than expected but the speed of the machine is an unexpected surprise.

Disc brakes, just get them and don't worry. The handling is so precise too on downhill sections
