All bikes have a selling point, whether it's super-speed, smooth pedalling, or downright fun but why not build a bike that does all those and more Well that's where the new S-Works Stumpjumper comes in a bike with unrivalled handling and stiffness, complete with unwavering suspension kinematics and an abandonment of all proprietary nonsense this is truly a bike that dreams are made of. Built for 27.5 inch wheels, this frameset combines stability with responsiveness to create an unbeatable trail performance.

We discovered that to achieve a telepathic connection between rider and machine, we needed to focus on the stiffness. Stiffness is super important, just imagine the feeling of instability as your frame tells your hands one thing and your feet say another that's when your brain starts to get fried and you make bad calls. To achieve that sought-after super-stiffness, we set out on dialing-in the shapes, materials and layout of our new frameset.

To identify areas of the design that needed the biggest stiffness improvements, we created our own mountain-specific stiffness test, and combining that Finite Element Analysis to really dig deep into the layout. We made a massive discovery: the Large and X-Large frames wanted more front-end stiffness while the Small and Medium frames were spot on. With this discovery in mind, we improved the efficiency of the frame by a massive 20% making this one of the lightest trail frames on the market right now.

A new Sidearm design connecting the front-end and rear-end at three points maintained the stiffness aims we were going for, keeping all points super rigid and connected. The new design shaved 100 grams off the rear-end but, more importantly, it also helps to minimise frame flex when the rear suspension is active.

A custom Rx Trail Tune was our next step down the suspension path, with our designers putting one on both the fork and rear shock. As frame, wheel and rider size drastically affect suspension performance, we use the Rx Tune to make sure each bike lands in the middle of the adjustment range so every Stumpy owner can fully customise their ride. We also matched the suspension to each wheel size and platform, developing a specific Rx Tune for the 27.5 wheel size this frameset is built for.

Threaded bottom brackets make a return to this new S-Works build, along with a massive amount of space to fit up to a 3.0 tyre making this bike is one seriously easy machine to live with. Choose whatever aftermarket shock you want for your new Stumpy we're running the standard metric shocks. We've also given the SWAT box a facelift, making it sleeker, lighter and adding even more volume. A Flip Chip adds to the customisation options, allowing you to fine-tune every aspect of your ride. Drop the bottom bracket by 6mm and slacken the head tube by half-a-degree, simply by flicking the switch from High to Low. A ribbed chain stay protector is another cool little feature keeping the chain level, silencing the drivetrain and ensuring chain slap becomes a distant memory. Lastly, on the carbon models, cable routing just couldn't be made any easier. Throughout the frame, full tubes allow a simple push of the cable and pop, it's out the other side. Lazy loops, hidden stashes of magnets, pokey spokes and pillows are no more no need to cry when cable routing now.

  • The Stumpjumper's asymmetrical, FACT 11m carbon fiber construction is lightweight, stiff, and ready to take on the trail. It's built off our 27.5 Trail Geometry, so it's just the right amount of both capable and comfortable. And with SWATâ„¢ integration in the down tube, a threaded BB, easy cable routing, and an all new chain silencer, it's ready for anything the trail, or you, throw at it.
  • FOX FLOAT DPX2 Factory has three modes—Open, Trail, and Firm—that control large compression adjustments on-the-fly. There's also a tool adjust compression adjustment that allows for fine-tuning of the compression in Open mode.
