Women's Stumpjumper Comp Alloy 27.5

The Stumpjumper Comp Alloy 27.5 makes no compromises, pushing the boundaries of what it means to ride an alloy frame. The new Stumpy goes above and beyond to gift each rider the ultimate trail bike experience. Custom shock tunes and a revolutionary new asymmetrical frame are both designed exclusively for women shattering every rule in the design handbook.

One of the aims for the new Stumpjumper was to make the connection between rider and bike feel almost telepathic. Stiffness is the key factor in this connection and was something we focussed our efforts on when dialling in the materials, shapes and layout of the bike.

An in-house, mountain-specific stiffness test examined the connection between a rider's hands and feet before Finite Element Analysis helped us identify the areas on the bike that needed the biggest improvements. We made a huge discovery while conducting this test: the larger frames needed more front-end stiffness, compared to the smaller frames which proved just fine. With this new discovery, we were able to work on the front triangle of the smaller frames, reducing weight by around 20% while maintaining high stiffness standards. As for the larger frames, we kept the same weight but managed to ramp up the stiffness by a whopping 20%!

Adding to the tests and analyses conducted on the Stumpy, we also added a revolutionary new Sidearm design that helped us crush further stiffness targets. The Sidearm connects all three shock mounting points in one structure that while suspension is active minimises flex and adds to the incredible feel as the bike rips down the trail. 100 grams were also shaved out of the rear of the frame thanks to this radical new frame design.

A custom Women's RX Tune on both the fork and rear shock further improves the new Stumpy's suspension. As suspension performance is so highly dependent on the size of the wheel, frame and rider, the RX Tune is there to ensure each bike lands in the middle of the adjustment spectrum. That gives the rider the widest possible range to fine-tune their ride to suit their style. The Rx Tune on this model is specifically tweaked for 27.5 wheels.

To keep the bike simple, we brought back a threaded bottom bracket as well as enough clearance to fit up to a 3.0 tyre, increasing versatility for a wide range of rider styles and preferences. Standard attachments allow the rider to opt for whatever aftermarket shock they choose bringing a definitive end to Shock Block.

A Flip Chip adds to the simplicity of this bike, an easy flick from High to Low dropping the bottom bracket 6mm while also slackening the head tube by a half-degree, all helping to improve performance over some of the more technical trails. A ribbed chain stay protector adds to the easy-living character of the new Stumpy, effectively eliminating chain slap.
