S-Works Epic EVO

Going all out in a race takes its toll on the mind and the body, when fatigue really kicks in. Times like those are when the ride could do with being a touch more forgiving on the descents. We all get there, near the end of a race or ripping around our local trails with mates. It's why we made the Epic evolve into not only a superb cross country bike but also a seriously fast trail slayer.

If you ever get a chance to look at our office space, you'll see a lot of Epics that have been modified. Mainly with bigger tyres, wider bars, dropper posts and a few extra mm's of travel up front. It's so they hold up to huge days in the saddle, whether it be over ever-changing trails or cross country stages over multiple days. Eventually, we go to the point where even we thought we have to make this bike available to everyone.

So we did.

To start we bumped the EVO's fork travel from 100mm to 120mm, Giving an extra bit of big hit comfort and also slackening the head angle by one degree which also helps calm the steering slightly. We've also fitted a Ground Control tyre up front and a Fast Trak rear with GRID protection in 2.3 widths for added grip over the rough stuff. To top it off there's the addition of a zero offset dropper post which will keep your weight over the BB for the climbs and drop out of the way for the fast descents.

Included in the Epic EVO's build is the fantastic Brain 2.0 rear shock. The design that made the world see suspension design in a totally new light. Not only paving the way to race-winning performances, but it also helped us leave our mark in suspension innovation and development. But we didn't stop there, we relocated the Brain towards the rear axle which made it a lot more sensitive, making for a seamless bump response and also making the damping a lot smoother and more consistent. As a final touch, we routed the hoses within the frame giving a more direct oil path which results in not only an awesome look but it also outperforms anything on the market.

The Epic Evo is one of the first Rider-First Engineered™ MTB frames. Its frame is designed with stiffness and response in mind. This is achieved by placing integral carbon pieces in all the right places no matter the frame size. As a result of this design, you get one of the best XC bikes we've ever made.

With all the extras added in the question that is always asked is "but how much does it weigh?" and we're happy to say that the design and construction of the frame saves nearly 525 grams. That's the equivalent of leaving a chainstay in the shed before the ride. Plus we gave the frame more tyre clearance to accommodate those wider tyres allowing you to get more grip which ultimately leads to fast times and as a bonus a lot more fun.

The build of this S-Works Epic EVO spares no expense, featuring Shimano’s new 12-speed XTR groupset and brakes, a FOX Factory Step-Cast 34 fork, and a hand-built Roval Control SL carbon wheelset.
