Cross-country racing just got even better, with the Specialized Epic Evo. We know that as the standard of riding gets better, the types of courses cross-country riders now face are evolving as a result. Things that previously would have been seen in other, perhaps more technical racing, have trickled down to cross-country racing. In this article, we’ll get to know the Epic Evo, our racing cross-country bike, which, rather handily, is on sale at the moment!
Good suspension is the backbone of any decent mountain bike. Whether it’s a full-suspension enduro beast, or an agile and playful hardtail destined for jump lines or trail riding. That’s why with the Epic Evo, we’ve included geometry that works with the suspension, and doesn’t add on a lot of bulk.
The new suspension kinematics work in unison with the Rx XC Tune customised suspension in both the front and rear to make sure you can use your bike to its full potential, getting every inch of travel out of it. This also offers increased anti-squat characteristics for less power loss and improved pedalling efficiency.
There are several models in our Epic Evo line-up, catering to a wide range of budgets. This also means there are several different suspension setups on offer. The Epic Evo comes with a RockShox Deluxe Select+ rear shock and RockShox Reba RL forks, whereas the S-Works Epic Evo is equipped with a Fox Float DPS Factory shock and Fox Float 34 Factory fork. Thus, catering to both the RockShox and Fox fans among us.

As with all Specialized bikes, we like to offer a selection to suit different budgets and styles. That’s no different with the Epic Evo, as we have more entry-level (but still race-worthy) bikes up to professional spec level models. We also offer framesets so you can create your own dream build.
The Epic Evo is our most affordable option, with an MSRP of £4,500 but it is currently on sale for £3,950! It comes in three colour options: gloss cool grey/dove grey, gloss raspberry/tarmac black and satin doppio/gunmetal. Being an Epic Evo, it still uses our Fact 11m carbon frame, and comes with SRAM’s dependable NX Eagle groupset.
Next up is the Epic Evo Comp. This is a step up in terms of groupset, and uses SRAM’s GX Eagle 12-speed drivetrain, and RockShox SID Select forks. It’s available in two colours: satin carbon/oak green metallic and gloss ca white sage/sage green. The Epic Evo Comp is priced at £5,250.
Above the Comp lies the Epic Evo Expert. Here we see a jump in components, but still utilising the same Fact 11m full carbon frame. SRAM’s X01 Eagle groupset lays claim here and is paired with RockShox SID Select+ fork and RockShox SID LUXE Select+ rear shock for that customisable ride-feel. The Evo Expert is priced at £7,750 and is available in two colours: satin smoke/dove grey and satin terra cotta/sand.
The Specalized Epic Evo Pro sits a rung higher and utilises Shimano’s 12-speed XTR groupset alongside Fox suspension. Up front we have the Fox Float 34 Factory, and on the rear, Fox Float DPS Factory. The Evo Pro costs £9,250 and is available in gloss red onyx/red tint over carbon.
Finally, the crème de la crème, aka the S-Works Epic Evo. This mighty beast is ready for anything from local cross-country leagues to riding the Absa Cape Epic. SRAM’s XX1 Eagle AXS 12-speed groupset is paired with Fox Float 34 Factory forks and a Fox Float DPS Factory shock. For the ultimate in race-ready customisation. It’s available in gloss sand/satin red gold tint for £12,500 as our range-topper.
